The Shexariah.com website, including all associated software, codes, algorithms, protocols, text, graphics, content, layouts, designs and interfaces (collectively, the “Site”) is owned by Shexariah Language and Translation Services doing business as “Shexariah LTS” (“Shexariah”, “we”, “us”, “our”).  We value the privacy of all those who access the Site. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains the information we collect, use and disclose when you use the Site and provides our contact details should you have any questions about your privacy while using the Site.  It should be read in conjunction with our Website Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms”). Capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given to them in the Terms.  By using this Site, you consent to this Privacy Policy.

Information Gathered From Visitors

In common with other websites, log files are stored on the web server saving details such as the visitor’s IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit.

Cookies may be used to remember visitor preferences when interacting with the website.

Where registration is required, the visitor’s email and a username will be stored on the server.

What information do we collect?

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • Personal Information” is information about an identifiable individual. Personal Information includes but is not limited to your name, residential address, residential telephone number and personal e-mail address.
  • Business Contact Information” is your name, position name or title, company, work address, work email address and work telephone number. Business Contact Information generally does not constitute Personal Information.
  • De-identified Information” means information (including Personal Information) that has been aggregated, anonymized and de-identified, so that it cannot (directly or indirectly) be used, alone or in combination with other data within our possession or control, to identify an individual.

We collect information from Customers (i.e., learners, companies,  or administrators, tutors) when you request and activate a Subscription Account on the Site (an “Account”).  No Personal Information is required for Customers to use the Site (e.g. you can use an anonymous email address and username to use the Site, without any loss in Site functionality). However, we understand that some Customers will use personally identifiable email addresses and usernames to use the Site, which will constitute Personal Information. We take this responsibility seriously and use this Personal Information only to deliver our Services to you.

When registering an Account, the Customer may be asked to enter your Business Contact Information (i.e., your name, work e-mail address or work address).

When the Customer (learners) is using the Student Management System on the Site, the names, email addresses or mailing addresses of your students with whom you intend to use this Site may also be entered.  Such information may only be provided as follows:

  • You must receive consent directly from all students over the age of 19 in order to enter any of their Personal Information on the Site. Alternatively, non-personally identifiable information (for example, non-identifiable usernames and email addresses that do not divulge the identity of students) may be used.
  • For all students ages 19 or younger, we recommend that you enter only non-personally identifiable information (for example, non-identifiable usernames and email addresses that do not divulge the identity of students). Alternatively, you must obtain consent from the parents or guardians of such students or from administrators in order to enter any Personal Information on the Site.

By entering a third party’s Personal Information into this Site (such as a learner/staff who you intend to use this Site with), you represent and warrant that you have the appropriate authority and consent to enter that Personal Information into the Site and that we are entitled to collect, use and disclose that Personal Information as set out in this Privacy Policy, in reliance of such representation and warranty.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information other than as set out above. We do not collect any Personal Information related to:

  • Race or ethnic origin
  • Political opinions
  • Religious or philosophical beliefs
  • Trade union memberships
  • Genetic or biometric data
  • Health or mortality
  • Sex life or sexual orientation

We do not use Personal Information to make automated decisions.

Customers should instruct students not to inadvertently enter Personal Information on the Site (for example, when answering a free text or essay-type homework question).

What do we use your information for?

Any of the Personal Information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  1. to facilitate the creation of and secure your account;
  2. identify you as a user in our system;
  3. to process transactions you have initiated;
  4. to provide you with the Services you request;
  5. to administer a contest, promotion, survey or other Site feature that you have chosen to participate in; or
  6. to send you periodic emails with information directly relevant to your use of the Service.

Your Personal Information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the Service.

How do we protect your information?

We implement security safeguards to protect Personal Information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification, regardless of the format in which the information is held.  We use physical, organizational and technological measures to protect Personal Information, such as firewalls, encryption, and employee education.

We will keep Personal Information only for as long as it remains necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.  We use secure means of disposing of Personal Information.

How the Information is used

The information is used to enhance the vistor’s experience when using the website to display personalised content and possibly advertising.

E-mail may be sent to inform you of news of our services or offers by us or our affiliates.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personal Information. The Site uses Google Analytics as our third-party analytics provider, as described above, information is not personally identifiable and is only used on an aggregate basis to deliver the Site’s Service to you. You can review Google Analytics’ privacy policy here.

We may transfer your Personal Information as an asset in connection with any contemplated or actual sale, merger or other disposal of all or part of our business or assets, or as part of a corporate reorganization or other change in corporate control, including for the purposes of determining whether to proceed with such transaction or fulfilling any records or other reporting requirements to such parties.  In such circumstances, we will ensure that any transfer of Personal Information is subject to applicable law and reasonable data protection security protocols.

We may also release your Personal Information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our Site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.

Other than as required or allowed by law (for example, in response to a court order or subpoena, or to comply with local regulations), your Personal Information will not be used for any other purpose without your consent.
